Ms. Delores Yvonne Vines, (70) of Harlem, New York, Passed away Friday, June 11, 2021. A public viewing will be held Friday, June 25, 2021, from 3-7 P.M. at the W.E. Flanagan Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, At 12 P.M. at Philippi Church Of Christ( DOC ) , 3760 Philippi Dr, Greenville, NC 27834. Rev. Kenneth Hammond will be officiating. All Services will be live-streamed on the W.E. Flanagan Memorial Facebook page. Delores Yevonne Vines, Known to her family and friends as “Evon, Big E & Queen”, took her eternal rest on Friday, June 11, 2021. Born on December 3, 1950, in Greenville, NC, where she attended Pitt County Schools, she grew up to be the Queen that we all know and love. To have her as a friend was a blessing to everyone she crossed paths with. As an adult Evon was employed at Greenville Villa, now currently known as MacGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center and East Carolina University. In the early 80’s she made the choice to move to New York City and settle down in Harlem, NY, where she resided until God called her home. Evon was always the life of the party or the first one to get it started. If you ever met her you knew right away she was unforgettable. Her spirit and love for life was as big as the smile she always had on her face. She was truly one of a kind. To cherish the memories and continue her legacy, Big E leaves behind her past, present and forever love, her soulmate and lifetime love Melvin Earl Brown of Greenville, NC. Together they loved and raised their 4 children, Bridgette Vines of Greenville, NC, Russell Vines of Durham, NC, Zackery “Bo” Vines(Rachel) and Deon Vines(Shaneta) both of Harlem, NY. Raised in loved, 2 stepdaughters, Brittany Lashay Brown/Mobley and Latonya Mobley Jones of Greenville, NC. An adopted son, Warner Roberts, 2 godsons, ShaSha and Bashir Triggs and 1 goddaughter, Erika Bright, all of New York. Born from these families she also leaves behind 21 grandchildren that she dearly loved, and had a very special bond with her grandson Darion Omar Vines. From these she also has 7 great grandchildren. She also leaves to keep her memory alive 2 sisters, Laura Vines Daniels and Brenda Harris and 2 brothers, GeorgeVines and John Bridges, all from Greenville, NC, special family friends Jannea Battle, Mitch Phillips, Dyron Langley and Clarence Gray, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family friends. Evon lived and learned the true meaning of life, “Enjoy it while you can” and she did just that. We all would be lucky to follow her example.
