Mrs. Katie Mae Roundtree

Mrs. Katie Mae Roundtree, 78, of Greenville, N.C., passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services for Mrs. Roundtree will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Sycamore Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor B.T. Walston will be the eulogist. A public viewing will also be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at W.E. Flanagan Memorial Chapel from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. The funeral service will be live-streamed on W.E.Flanagan Memorial Facebook Page. https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/ZYNRS3SD5MNXTZXT Mother Katie Mae Perkins Roundtree was born on February 24, 1943, in Greenville, NC to the late Larlie May Perkins-Barrett and Willie Barrett Jr. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Roberta Perkins and George Henry Perkins. Mother Katie Mae transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on July 31, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center. Mother Katie Mae grew up in Pitt County and attended Sallie Branch school in Belvoir, NC. She was employed with Pitt County Memorial Hospital until her retirement, in 1997. Mother Katie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of Sycamore Chapel Baptist Church. She served as a faithful usher for many years and later ordained as a Mother in the church. She was also a member of the Hospitality Committee. Mother Katie Mae was a loving and caring person that always visited the sick and supported so many others in the community. Her passion was keeping her yard filled with flowers and enjoying her dogs. Mother Katie Mae most precious past time was spending time with her grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mother Katie was proceeded in death by her mother, Larlie May Perkins-Barrett, father Willie Barrett Jr., grandmother Roberta Spruill Perkins, grandfather George Henry Perkins. Her sisters Shirley Barrett, Martha Barrett-Carmon, Roberta Barrett-Whitney and Peggy Barrett Williams; brother Willie A. Barrett. She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Teressa Roundtree Grant and Earl K. Roundtree (Ruby) of Greenville, NC. Her sisters, Lena May (Lenvia) and Katherine Barrett of Ayden NC. Linda Barrett of Greenville, NC. Her brothers, Linwood Barrett (Helen) Ayden N.C., Donnie Barrett (Mendy), both of Greenville, NC. Two goddaughters Minister Mattie Mercer and Patricia Keys, all of Greenville, NC. Six grandchildren, Jessica Roundtree-Price (Brian), Anthony Roundtree (Genieva), Tylrico Roundtree, Laquwanda Roundtree, Deshawn Roundtree, and Ladarius Roundtree all of Greenville, NC. Fourteen great-grandchildren, Jassmalica, Ki’Jawon, Tykeara, Shykeara, Jahnease, Anthony, Aarmad, Ty’Curian, Demonjay, Tykevious, Londyn, Carter, Zariyah, and Camaria all of Greenville, NC. Three great-great grandchildren, Jas’myne, Journee, and Ma’kara all of Greenville, NC. Cared for with love by her loving daughter Teressa, sister Linda, brother Linwood, Evelyn Overton, Danny Moore and Angie Shepard. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
