Mr. Dalton G. Davis, 75, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Community Christian Church, Greenville N.C. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens. Was born in Pitt County on April 8, 1941, the fourth of six children, to the late George and Susie Davis. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the home. DALTON, also known as “Mickey”, attended Pitt County Schools and graduated from C.M. Eppes High School in 1961. He also attended Pitt Community College where he obtained an Associate Degree in Mental Health an a certification in Masonry. He married Annie Clemons Davis on October 3, 1975 and from their union 10 children were born. At an early age, Dalton was a member of Sycamore Hill Missionary Baptist Church and later attended St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church. Dalton’s employment included Lewis Construction and East Carolina University. After graduating from high school, he was drafted by the NFL, but had to decline because of the Vietnam draft. Dalton shared a unique military experience with two of his brothers. While he was on tour in Vietnam, his twin Alton, was stationed in Germany, while his young brother Charles served in Korea. Dalton served three tours of Vietnam with the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Combat Infantry Man’s Badge. DALTON cherished his family, was a great cook, enjoyed western movies, a good game of spades, and exercising, especially walking. he loved sports and was an avid Redskins fan. He was preceded in death by his father, George Davis; his mother, Susie Davis; three brothers, Alton Ray Davis (his twin), Charles Edward Davis amd George Thomas Davis. DALTON GRAY DAVIS, SR. leaves to chreish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Annie Clemons Davis of the home. He also leaves ten children: Towanda Davis of Winterville, NC, Jeffery G. Davis (Rosanne), Denise Hawkes (Stan), Dalton G. Davis, Anthony Tyrone Davis, Alton O’neal Davis (Toshia), Todd Ashley Davis (Simone), Joey O’mar Davis (Chastity), Jennifer Faye Davis, and Rick Allen Davis all of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Audrey Ann Lucas and Mary Davis Streeter (Edward) both of Greenville, NC; ten grandchildren, Traye (Karmee), Scott, Precious, Faithful, Nate, Shala, Pryla, Kennedy, Joely and Chloe’; two great-grandchildren, Miles and Kamille; father-in-law, Reverend Floyd Lee Clemons (Delores) of Greenville, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
