Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. KIA NICOLE GAY was a caring and talented mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, daughter, and friend who was born on November 24, 1985, in Greenville, NC to the late Ms. Lueie Dell Gay. Kia accepted Christ as a teenager and as she grew in age, she also grew in spiritual maturity as she embraced her personal relationship with God. She was educated through the Pitt County Public Schools system and continued her post graduate education at Pitt Community College, where she was slated to graduate with honors this year with an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services Technology. Always goal driven as well as multitalented, Kia was employed with Pitt County Department of Social Services as an Income Maintenance Case Worker. She was also a Black, female entrepreneur who founded and managed her company, Kia's Bonnet Shop. Kia completed certification as a phlebotomist, was accomplished in hair braiding and natural hair care, was a background vocalist for the singing group Inspirational Voices of Deliverance, served in several capacities in church ministry, and utilized her impeccable organizational, mathematical, and managerial skills to assist others in learning how to budget and coupon. Kia was creative and had a flair for writing, drawing, decorating, and sewing (far beyond the bonnets she created for her business). Kia was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Although quiet and not one to spend time in futile conversation, Kia had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and feel safe. Kia left this world suddenly and obtained her glorified body on Friday, January 21, 2022, at age 36. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Lucille Blow and her mother Lueie Dell Gay. She leaves to cherish her memory a tightknit family who adored her: Her beloved children, Aniyah Dixon and Nathan Gay, both of the home; sister LaTina Williams of Greenville, North Carolina; her aunts, Eunice Gay of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Sylvia and Gwendolyn Gay, both of Greenville, North Carolina; her uncle Morris Gay (Odella) of Jamesville, North Carolina, her nieces, Nakyala Adams of Raleigh, North Carolina and Iyanna Hill of Greenville, North Carolina, her nephew, Tyrone Williams, Jr. of Greenville, North Carolina; her great-nephew, Zaimere Hill of Greenville, North Carolina; her cousins, Iyanna Hill of Greenville, North Carolina, Charsta Scott (Deshawn) of Virginia, Kim Smith (Terrell) of Irmo, South Carolina, Shemika Davis (Anthony) of Wilson, North Carolina, Crystal Gay of Zebulon, North Carolina, Angela Gay of Cary, North Carolina, and Joshua Gay of Washington, D. C., and a host of other family, relatives and friends. Due to Covid-19 restrictions masks are required for all services. Services will be Livestream on W. E. Flanagan Memorial Facebook page.
