Mr. Lasander B. Kilpatrick

Mr. Lasander Bennett Kilpatrick, 71, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home, due to atherosclerotic coronary heart disease. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., W.E. Flanagan Memorial Chapel. Viewing Friday, October 8, 2021, 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the chapel. Viewing Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Lasander Bennett Kilpatrick also known as “KP” was born on October 3, 1950 in Greenville, NC. He was the eleventh child of twelve children born to the late George Washington and Mary Maggie Elizabeth Kilpatrick. Lasander attended C.M. Eppes High School. He graduated from Junius H. Rose High School in Greenville, N.C. June 1970. Lasander (KP) was an entrepreneur who earned a living as a bookkeeper helping people increase their finances. He also worked as a freelance musician. Playing the bass guitar, organ and piano at local churches in the area was his passion. He loved music and loved to perform for others. He was a spiritual man who confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. Lasander enjoyed riding his bike. One of his daily stops was to the Piggly Wiggly and Harvey's Restaurant. He loved conversating and sharing his insight with workers, customers and anyone who would listen. He was a people person and sharing his point of view was insightful whether you agreed or not. He loved being around people. He discovered the benefits of healthy eating in his later years. Lasander would share his information about healthy living, exercising and how to make a great smoothie. He shared his hard-earned lessons and findings with the young men in the neighborhood. He was a mentor, and enjoyed dropping some knowledge about what he learned listing to Steve Harvey. Lasander lived a quiet life at home with his parents until they preceeded him in death. He was a very compassionate person. He spent some time assisting in the care of his older sister Roxie McLean who preceded him in death. Lasander leaves to cherish his memory: His brother Pastor Elbert (Sandra) Kilpatrick of Winterville, NC; his sister and caregiver Mary (Joseph) Ferguson of Cumming, GA; his sister Darlinda Kilpatrick of Parsippany, NJ; brother Shenandoah (Sharon) Turnage of Ellenwood, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
